I can firmly say I’ve found “my hemline” – the midi. I’m obsessed; it’s grown up, looks like I’ve made an effort, flatters my legs and as long as I turn anything up a few inches, suits my short frame. So today’s outfit features yet a one shoulder midi dress, from Quiz Clothing, and some excellent bell sleeves.

Yes, the midi dress; it’s become a staple in my wardrobe, perfect for both in and out of work. Quiz Clothing surprised me with this beautiful floral dress and it was like they’d read my mind; a gorgeous pattem, a flattering midi length and a detail to add something new to my wardrobe; one shoulder. The one shoulder trend is so popular right now and it’s something I’ve wanted to try as it looks so elegant.
Rather than style the midi dress in a more formal way as I would for a special occasion, I wanted to challenge myself to make the dress wearable for day. I’ve recently had a huge clearout of my wardrobe so I’m trying to only buy new pieces which fit into my wardrobe and are suitable for a variety of occasions, as too many dresses were hanging forgotten and taking over my bedroom.
I layered a blouse under the dress, which basically meant I would be warm and could wear a bra – and instantly made it much more appropriate for daytime! I picked up this pastel blouse in Primark and I am obsessed. It nails the bell sleeve trend without being too over the top for people who want to dip their toe into the style. I feel so floaty and feminine wearing it and I haven’t dragged the sleeves into any food yet – winner! It’s also available in white and black and I’m tempted to make a return trip and snap it up in a couple of different colours whilst I can.
However I still couldn’t resist making the outfit blog focused by adding a pair of metallic heels. I tottered around Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds with my friend, exploring hidden patches of trees, a tiny bridge and abandoned ruins, before heading for a pot of tea and some gossip in the tiny café.
Does anyone else use catch up with friends as an opportunity for outfit photographs? Beware; if I hang out with you, I’m guaranteed to bring my camera and encourage you to take some snaps. I don’t have an Instagram Husband, I have Instagram Friends!
