Yorkshire is one of my favourite places in the UK, if not the world. There’s always somewhere new to explore and importantly for me, somewhere new to eat! I was recently invited to try the new menu at the Potting Shed in Guiseley and I fell in love with this gorgeous Yorkshire village.
The Potting Shed is a bit of an Instagrammer’s dream, with walls lined with plants, and beautiful furniture. It offers an extensive cocktail menu, perfect pub snacks and some incredible pizzas and burgers. The rooftop terrace is really something special and perfect for those rare sunny days in Yorkshire; luckily the retractable roof can provide some cover on those more typically rainy days! I loved the atmosphere of the bar and the plants create a cosy, friendly and relaxed feeling, perfect for drinks or a meal.
The small plates at the Potting Shed were absolutely perfect. My favourite dish was the halloumi fries; these are so fashionable at the moment but rarely done well and the Potting Shed’s version were truly delicious, especially with a side of sweet and sour sauce. The battered calamari were also delicious, accompanied by a sweet chilli sauce and paprika, and another favourite were the garlic dough balls (better than Pizza Express!)
If you’re feeling brave, try the Yorkshire, beef, Yorkshire blue and bacon between two giant Yorkshire pudding rather than bread, or the Gnome’s Revenge which combines the ingredients of a pizza with a burger to make a giant burger topped with bacon, cheese, pepperoni and pizza sauce. I chose the slightly less exciting option of the Meat Feast pizza, topped with pepperoni, bacon, chicken and red onions. It was fresh and tasty – and huge! I had to ask to take away my remaining slices home with me, which was a first for me, but I didn’t want to waste any of it!
If you’re exploring Yorkshire and looking for somewhere a little different outside of Leeds, make sure you check out The Potting Shed in Guiseley. The Potting Shed are also opening in Trinity Leeds soon too and I cannot wait to head there for cocktails, halloumi fries and of course, that beautiful décor.
I was invited for a complimentary meal at the Potting Shed in exchange for this review but all views are my own
